We just spent a fun few days in Itatiaia National Park (about 2 1/2 hours west of Rio). We got to do some hiking in the Atlantic Forest and spent our first morning doing a bird watching tour with Daniele of Group Ralph Salgueiro. It turns out that we don´t exactly fit the bird watching demographic for Brazil (older Americans) but it was a fun morning of hiking and spotting birds. We got to check out some awesome waterfalls too!

March 22, 2007We made it to Rio last night! This morning Damon´s high school friend Jesse pointed us in the direction of Corcovado and we got to check out some awesome views of the city. Unfortunately our computer cord was misplaced during our US travels but to give you an idea of the size of the Christ the Redeemer statue and the view it has over the city, go here.
