Happy Solstice!

June 21, 2007

The start of summer in Seattle means the Fremont Solstice Parade.  There are many street fairs around Seattle in the summer- but only one features nude bicyclists.  The floats in the parade typically have an environmental or political message.  The weather for the parade was great.  My favorite float was the ones of the trees- they reminded me of the  Ents in Lord of the Rings.

Going Back…

June 20, 2007

May 31-June 3rd was Damon’s 10th (and my 9th) college reunion. Being on the west coast I’ve totally forgotten what summer back east is like. (un)Fortunately, New Jersey did not disappoint and the weather was hot and humid. We even got a thunderstorm on Friday night! Predictably there was a lot of orange and black, lots of beer and wine, good fireworks, and a good time was had by all.

Sasquatch 2007

June 8, 2007

Sasquatch is an annual 2 day music festival that takes place at the Gorge Amphitheater every Memorial Day Weekend.  This year Bjork headlined on Saturday and the Beastie Boys on Sunday.  The icing on the cake was that some of our favorite bands were playing- including The Slip.  The music was great, the crowds as expected, the beer over priced…but the worst part was the wind on Sunday. They ended up closing the main stage for a few hours until the winds died down.
