September saw us in Nantucket for Colleen and Mike’s wedding. I elected to go on vacation a few days early and headed out on Wednesday. I’ve been on some small planes, but the Cape Air flight from Providence takes the cake for smallest plane I’ve been on for a flight for travel (versus sightseeing). The 9 of us boarded the plane, took off, flew for about 10 minutes, and then all tried to remain calm as the pilot turned the plane back around. After making sure that the low fuel light was miscalibrated (like seeing your check engine light on after you’ve just had your car serviced), we took off again and had an uneventful flight to Nantucket. Imagine my great surprise when we landed and in the airport and one of the five people there to meet someone else on my flight was our good friend Gisele- who lives in NJ and was there for work. Small world.
Thursday Lauren, and I rented bikes and rode in to town where we strolled trhough some stores and had a tasty lobster roll. Fortunately, others went there later in the weekend and wrote up a review of the Straight Wharf Fish Store. We then took advantage of the warm weather with a dip in the water.
The festivities started on Thursday with a barbecue for Mike’s birthday, brunch and sailing with the bride on Friday before the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at the Whaling Museum, and the wedding on Saturday. It was great to catch up with friends and celebrate with Colleen and Mike.
Our flight home on Sunday got cancelled- fortunately, we were flying through Providence so we got to spend some time with Damon’s parents. As far as cancelled travel goes, it was pretty painless.
